The rose that grew from concrete! Bo Kaap, Cape Town

The title of this article came to me this morning like a light bulb moment. I was actually doing my morning prayers when the title popped into my head. I almost grabbed my phone to type it in but then remembered that I had made a promise never to use my phone until I have done my daily devotion in the morning. I said to myself if this is the title of this post them I will remember after my devotion.

My trip to South Africa was everything I expected and more. I loved every bit of it albeit the glaring issue of race (which I won’t go into fully here).

As it turns out, Bo Kaap was the first place I visited when I was in Cape Town. I linked up with a friend and his Continue reading The rose that grew from concrete! Bo Kaap, Cape Town

A Black Panther Inspired fashion look | Cuts for Him

By now, everyone should have heard about Black Panther the movie.  The most eagerly awaited movie in years. In fact, this post is super late. I actually prepared it over two weeks ago and for reasons I would rather not get into, I am only now sharing it.

Cultured in Culture – The Thailand and Vietnam experience

Cultured in Culture is a short series I started last year when I visited Freetown, Sierra Leone. In all honesty, it was meant to be a one-off piece that turned into a mini-series. I would encourage you to catch up on the last two here and here.

As a stylist, I have always tried to infuse different cultures into how I put an outfit together. Cultured in Culture also borrows heavily from places and the people in those places. I mean, culture is mostly about people right?

For someone who was born into one culture and partly raised in another, I have always been intrigued by other people’s way of life. I remember watching action movies based on or set in Thailand such as Kickboxer, Above the law, Police story and much more like them. I can unequivocally say now that I had no business watching those movies at that age. More recent movies such as Bangkok dangerous and the cult-classic Ong-Bak all let my imagination run wild.

Apart from movies, I have always had the Continue reading Cultured in Culture – The Thailand and Vietnam experience

London Fashion Week Men’s Street style | Cuts for Him

So London Fashion Week Men’s AW18 has come and gone. It has been an incredible event for me personally. Apart from seeing some amazing runway and presentations, I get to hang out with a few of my blogger friends. Unlike previous seasons, AW18 was reduced to 3 days only instead of 4. I was able to attend day 1 and day 2.

Here are my looks for both days.

Day 1
